Did you know that James Brown owned a radio station? It seems amazing to me because he was an African American that lived in the days of segregation and prejudice. James was a very blessed man, and he knew a lot about business and how to survive. Sometimes the things that he wanted to do didn’t quite work out, but he had great ideas.

According to his biography, he got into the radio business because of all the things going on in the country. Well, he believed in human rights - not civil rights. James loved his country. Speaking out for his people was part of loving his country. So Mr. Brown bought WGYW, which he changed to WJBE, in Knoxville, Tennessee. 1430 AM. ….
